I was a little late to catch on to the Dustin Lance Black sex picture scandal. It doesn’t surprise me that Perez Hilton put the pictures on his website although they seem to be gone now. Yes, I went to look for them too. I went to look because when I saw Dustin on the Oscars I found him to be really hot and really sincere. You don’t always get the sincere type along with the hot type, not to mention the talented type like Dustin.
What I don’t get is the scandal part. So we have an out gay man having sex with another man and they took pictures and maybe a video. Uh so, where’s the scandal part? Bad judgment in filming it maybe but who among us hasn’t done weird stuff because of love or lust? I certainly have. So Dustin was having unprotected sex with his then partner.
When did we make him the poster boy for condom use? Maybe they were comfortable with each other’s status. Who the fuck are we to judge?
The scandal lies in the betrayal of Dustin by several sources. The person who sold the pictures, the entity that bought them and the douche bag who posted them on his website and tried to pass it off as news. What’s worse about the last one is he is one of us, a gay brother. I don’t get why we are so quick to try and bring others down. I am a daily reader of Davey Wavey’s website http://www.breaktheillusion.com/. I was reading through the comment section the other day on one of his recent post and I saw a comment posted that offered contact information to sell naked pictures of Davey. Now again, I would love to see a hot guy like Davey naked but not if it’s going to harm him.
I don’t think Dustin Lance Black owes anyone an apology. He was doing what comes natural to a gay man. He wasn’t the married president having sex with an intern or a right wing senator tapping his foot under an airport bathroom stall. He is one of us.
To say the photos and the acts in them are scandalous is to say there is something wrong with who we are and how we express ourselves sexually. If your gay and you still feel that a part of you is not right because of your sexuality, I’m sorry for you, please get help or you will never be truly happy. If your gay or closeted and you get off or find joy in betraying other gay and lesbian people or enjoy when one of us is being publicly humiliated then look in the mirror and find the dark place that allows you to these things and work on ridding your spirit of it. It will only bring you pain in the future. But if it does, and you should fall, and I'm there, I will help you up.....
